One of my favorite rituals I’ve established as an adult is making morning coffee via the French press.
There is something cathartic and beautiful in the simplicity of heating up water, pouring it into the press, letting time do its part, along with the chemistry of the water and coffee grounds, and then sitting for a few minutes enjoying my favorite way to consume caffeine. It is as much about the routine of it as it is the experience and the flavor. And enjoying this on a weekend with Andre has become a sort of sacred space in our life together.
We make coffee, we sit in our favorite space, the sunroom, and we watch nature right outside the windows, enjoying each other’s presence while we sit and sip.
We soak in the hummingbirds in the summer, the beautiful fall colors on the leaves in autumn, the crisp blue sky in the winter and of course everything coming back to life in the spring. We observe and take in our little world view and it always brings joy. We also use the time to just be together and catch up, usually with more meaningful conversation since we have this space set aside for each other.
Andre prefers his coffee black, and I like mine with cream. The French press gives us a tasty base of black coffee to add to if needed. Andre comes from a whiskey tasting background and loves to enjoy the finer notes of coffee. I need that little extra flavor that makes the cup joyful and happy to drink. Trust me, I have given his “natural” coffee a chance, and even though he judges me for ruining a good cup of coffee with cream, we will forever differ on this point; however, it does not keep us from enjoying our beverages together.
The joy of living in a secluded space as naturists is that we do all of this naked.
Sipping coffee, enjoying nature and enjoying ourselves as naturist is something that I truly treasure about our life together. It is a recurring highlight in the sometimes monotonous daily grind. I’m very thankful for a lovely space and for the rituals we have created in it.
